ProjectPad case study
ProjectPad is an iOS and Android app developed by TKO Solutions for trade businesses. We designed and built the app, its website at projectpad.uk, and the supporting systems. It brings job administration, documents and payments into one mobile app: quotes, invoices, job costs, receipts and card payments.
Requirements
A trade business typically keeps quotes, receipts, invoices and job costs in separate places, which makes it harder to see what a job cost and what is still owed.
The brief was for an app that works on a phone, on site, and that handles card payments and bookkeeping without the figures being entered a second time.
Design and development
The app is organised around the sequence of a job: quote, accept, work, record costs, invoice and take payment. Not every business follows that order exactly, so each stage can also be used on its own.
Screens are designed for one-handed use on a phone, which led to the dark interface, large tap targets and a single primary action per screen.
Payments and bookkeeping were built into the product rather than added afterwards.
A single Flutter codebase covers iOS and Android, so both platforms are released together.
The marketing site at projectpad.uk was designed and built alongside the app.
Features
A native-feeling app on iOS and Android covering jobs, clients, quotes, invoices, receipts and expenses in one place.
Receipt capture that reads the merchant, date and totals, separates the line items and assigns the costs to a job.
Card payments through Stripe Connect, with a payment link on invoices and in-person contactless payment on supported devices, subject to Stripe's own eligibility and availability.
Quotes built from a saved library of materials and labour rates, with document templates, VAT handling, and sending from the app.
Multi-user workspaces with role-based visibility, so staff see job details while prices and margins stay with the owner.
Per-job export to Xero or QuickBooks, so the user chooses what is sent across.
Analytics covering outstanding and overdue balances, and billed against spent by job.
Current status
ProjectPad is published on the App Store and Google Play, with its website at projectpad.uk.
TKO Solutions delivered the product design, the cross-platform app, the marketing site, the Firebase backend, the payment integration, the accounting export and the subscription billing, and maintains them.
